Complex Intervention Research Fellow / Associate Research Fellow (Ref. P46211) 

Grade E or F (dependent on experience) 

The School wishes to recruit a Research Fellow or Associate Research Fellow to contribute to an National Institute of Health Research funded Programme Grant about developing a collaborative care intervention based in GP surgeries for people with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. This four year post is available immediately. The programme consists of six separate work streams, and the Complex Intervention Research Fellow will contribute to all of them. The successful applicant will help develop the programme theory about how the collaborative care intervention works, focusing on the development and evaluation of the intervention. 

The successful applicant will contribute to the various elements of qualitative research in the six work streams. This will include conducting a literature review, and collecting and analysing qualitative data using a range of methods including interviews, diaries, and audio recorded interactions between patients and professionals. The successful applicant will use narrative synthesis techniques to develop the programme theory of how the intervention works, and will contribute to the process evaluation of a clinical trial. They will work closely with service user researchers and collaborators in our partner universities and the three clinical sites. 

The successful applicant will be a nationally recognised authority in qualitative research. They will be able to work both independently and collaboratively, supervise the work of others including mental health service users, and act as team leader as required. The successful applicant will be able to conduct qualitative health research in clinical settings, analyse a wide range of qualitative data from interviews, focus groups, diaries and clinical interactions, and publish the results of their work. 

The starting salary for an Associate Research Fellow is £25,014 on Grade E. The starting salary for a Research Fellow will be £32,590 on Grade F.
