School of Nursing, Midwifery & Physiotherapy (from 1st August 2013 the School will become the School of Health Sciences)

Professor in Supportive and Palliative Care (Health care or social science background)
Salary is negotiable depending on skills and experience and will be within the professorial range, minimum £56,467 per annum

The School is seeking to appoint a Professor of Supportive and Palliative Care to undertake a leadership role in the internationally renowned Sue Ryder Care Centre for the Study of Supportive, Palliative and End of Life Care (see: ).

You will have an outstanding international reputation for a distinctive portfolio of research in an area of relevance to supportive and palliative care and a strong track record of gaining competitive funding, producing internationally excellent and world leading outputs and successfully supervising research students.   The successful candidate will work alongside Professors Jane Seymour and Karen Cox in the Sue Ryder Care Centre, joining a vibrant inter-disciplinary group of post-doctoral researchers and PhD students.

The post provides an exciting opportunity for the further development and expansion of your research programme and excellent opportunities for developing collaborative links with centres of excellence within the Faculty and University, as well as nationally and internationally.  The appointee will supervise research staff and students, contribute to curriculum development and teaching in related areas at a variety of levels and contribute to the development and strategic direction of the new School of Health Sciences. The post comes with funding for a two year fixed term research associate post, to assist you to develop your distinctive research programme once in post.

The candidate must have a PhD in a supportive and palliative care related subject area: we are interested in candidates with a health care or social science background.
